GETTING THERE
I rented a car in Cairns and drove up to Cape Tribulation. I searched online for deals before going to Happy Travels to see if they could locate me a rental car and match my internet offer.
I had intended to find someone to share the car and petrol costs, as well as the experience, but it was too late to find someone the day before. I was extremely fortunate to be able to travel and share the experience with individuals I knew who were already in Daintree at the time. There are a variety of options to take you from Cairns to Cape Tribulation:
Car / Van
The most flexible way to trave, taking around 2.5 hours. Head north via the Captain Cook Highway (also known as the A1) from Cairns.
Shuttle Bus
Takes around 3 hours with some services including commentary and stops along the way.
Day or Multi-Day Tours
Day trips or multi-day tours from Cairns, including Uncle Brian's.
ACCOMODATION
We stayed in hostels that we either booked online or inquired about availability at reception the same day. We were fortunate that each hostel had four-person family rooms where we could stay. We stayed in Port Douglas Backpackers, in Port Douglas and PK's Jungle Village, in Cape Tribulation
